OUR LOCATION

Enjoy the scenic beauty of Wyoming along with the elegance of upscale accommodations. 66 Mountain Retreat, located just 1 hour from Cheyenne, is situated on a varied landscape, featuring Hawk Springs Reservoir, grasslands, rangelands, nestled in the beautiful 66 Mountain bluff across from the Bear Mountain bluff.

66 Mountain Retreat is located four miles north of LaGrange, Wyoming. With a .9 mile private lane off County Road 51 the property offers privacy for the perfect event or family escape.

THE ROUND HOUSE

This inspired, ingenious architecture of this house presents stunning vistas from most areas of the home. The rugged topography and humbling vistas influenced the appearance and design of 66 Mountain Retreat. The Round House as we call it, is a sophisticated engineered structure using Frank Lloyd Wright’s philosophy: ‘The house should be of the land, not merely a structure on the land.’ The welcoming kitchen has resilient Silestone counters, beautiful Abbaka range hood, and western views from large windows over sink & counter and gorgeous cherry wood cabinets and bar. Some notable features of this home include: great room open to second the floor, main floor master suite with cherry wood built ins and walk in tile shower, second floor suite with en suite bathroom, second floor bedroom with shared bath, floor to ceiling windows throughout capture the views from every angle, Australian Worm Chestnut flooring, and a theatre room with custom cherry wood cabinetry & built in tv.

“We did not want trendy, we wanted timeless” was the motto when building this one.

THE BUNK HOUSE

A beautiful stone slab path leads from the Round House to this cozy little bunk house. This building was uniquely designed using wood reclaimed from old abandoned buildings within our community. “A well aged feel without being tied to a specific era”. Contains 2 bedrooms and 2 baths and a kitchen with all appliances. Stunning views from front patio overlooking Hawk Springs Reservoir and Bear Mountain. Where tranquility and balance come together perfectly.

WRITERS CABIN

“Wow, this is really special spot!” is what we often hear about our little writers cabin. Originally designed as a get away for contemplation with a good dose of wanting it to be a place families & friends would discover and delight in as they explore the property. The interior is all drafted from local barnwood and cedar branches from the ravine that it overlooks. Enjoy your early morning coffee on the deck while the wildlife comes to life. During the evening watch the boaters on Hawk Springs Reservoir as the sun sets in the big Wyoming sky. Children absolutely love to play and create in the cabin and canyon below.

THE HUNTING HOUSE

This updated farm house has all of the amenities you’d never expect in the middle of the country. A large mud room complete with gun racks and sink welcomes you into our hunting lodge, the perfect place to wash up, take your boots off and drop your gear. Our kitchen was designed with entertaining the masses in mind, easily accommodating multiple cooks and with the adjacent formal dining room there is plenty of room for hungry guests to dine. Large great room with television and bar along with game table and cozy fireplace makes for the perfect spot to relax after a long day in the field. Decks on both sides of the home feature patio furniture, hot tub and fireplace to admire the landscape and stars.

Guests have the option of hiring a private chef and his team. Meet our friend, Chef Derek Ray Chef and Owner of The Paradigm Concepts in Michell, NE.  Chef Derek loves to cook for our guests and especially when they provide wild game! Hiring Chef Derek and his team is an added fee but one experience you do not want to miss. 

Meet Chef Derek

Chef Derek Ray discovered his passion for cooking and serving people unique food experiences after a leukemia diagnosis at the age of 16.  While he was still battling the cancer, he was accepted into the highly acclaimed Texas Culinary Academy in Austin, TX and entered into the Future Chef of America’s national scholarship competition, where he won second place in 2009.  Wanting to stay closer to family while continuing cancer treatments, he chose to move to Denver instead to further his career training.

He spent 10 years in Denver gathering experience, credentials, and accolades, earning his first Executive Chef position by the age of 22.  By 2017 Derek was running two of the top restaurants in Denver, simultaneously, and accredited for defining a Rocky Mountain terroir culinary experience, highlighting locally & seasonally foraged ingredients from the Front Range. 

In April 2018, he left Denver to quench an appetite for traveling the world to experience cuisines in different cultures. His wanderlust took him from South Korea to Indonesia to New Zealand, where he gained further experience working at 2 & 3 Hat restaurants (the New Zealand equivalent of Michelin Stars in the USA). There Derek worked with Chef Vaughan Mabee (a former Sous Chef of Rene Redzepi, the Chef/Owner of Noma in Copenhagen, which has been voted the best restaurant in the world multiple times); at Amisflield Bistro – 2 Hats; at Clooney restaurant in Auckland – 3 Hats; and at Rata with Josh Emett (previous Chef de Cuisine for multiple Gordon Ramsey Michelin-Starred restaurants).

Upon returning to the States in late 2019, his desire to reconnect with his roots led him home to the Sandhills of Nebraska. Gleaning from his heritage growing up on a farm, he began building his own concepts, Paradigm & Paradigm LYFE, where he could focus on true farm-to-table sustainability and creativity, finding outlets of expression in pop-ups around the Nebraska Panhandle. 

After moving to Belize in 2022 to expand his company, Paradigm, internationally, where he opened a restaurant on the Island of Ambergris Caye and made waves in the Central American culinary world, he moved back to the Panhandle with his wife to have their first child, Jubilee Dawn, and purchased a building in Mitchell, Nebraska to create a truly, unique-to-the-area culinary experience.
